It was such a special night to be there on stage with Sophia Tegart and Chris Wilson for the premiere. They beautifully captured the essence of the piece and can’t wait to share the studio recording at some point in the near future! 🤩🎧

Excerpts from the live-streamed performance of my song cycle at Stetson University featuring soprano Olivia Yokers ✨ This is the soprano & piano version and it was such a treat for me to be there to perform with Olivia! There are two versions available: one for soprano and piano and the other for soprano, piano and electric guitar. The version including Tasos Peltekis on electric guitar is featured on my album Long These Days.

One of my goals is to perform more. I missed this very much (I realized), and it means so much to have these opportunities to prepare the piano parts and be on stage to perform with these amazing artists and be a part of the process. 😊🎹

I had a fantastic time this week at Virginia Tech

I had a fantastic time this week at Virginia Tech collaborating with the faculty and students to be a part of their Music and Technology Festival. It was such an incredible experience for me to rehearse and perform my music with faculty violinist John Irrera and saxophonist Kyle Hutchins and hear some of my chamber music with faculty cellist Alan Weinstein, percussionist Annie Stevens and her very talented percussion students on the first concert to kick off the festival. I also had the opportunity to meet with faculty composer Charles Nichols and give a presentation to his composition class and discuss collaborations and other related topics with some of the students and staff in a “Fireside Chat” setting at the Mozaiko International Living Center while staying there as their fellow in residence.

Special thanks to Kyle for organizing/directing such a vibrant new music festival, to Carey Stewart for her work organizing my stay at the Mozaiko center, and for John and Annie for being such wonderful hosts, performing and organizing the music for my concert. It was an honor to be invited to be in residence for this and I’m looking forward to many more projects and collaborations with them! 🎵🎉

Excited to be at Virginia Tech this week to perform and meet with the students and faculty! 🎶 Tomorrow, I'll be performing 🎹 some of my works with faculty violinist 🎻 John Irrera and saxophonist 🎷 Kyle Hutchins, and will also hear my works presented by percussionist Annie Stevens and her students and cellist Allan Weinstein. I'm also really looking forward to meeting with the composers on Wednesday and talking about collaborations/projects with the students in the Mozaiko Living-Learning Community.

Performed my songs 🎹 with soprano Olivia Yokers

Performed my songs 🎹 with soprano Olivia Yokers on her recital at Stetson University on Tuesday and it was such a wonderful experience to be on stage making music with her! One of my goals recently is to perform the piano parts to all of my pieces and over the summer, I rewrote all of the piano parts to these songs so I can also have an updated version that includes just piano, in addition to the one including electric guitar. These songs are tracks 1, 7, and 11 from my new album, Long These Days, and from song cycle “A Smile and a Sigh.”

It was wonderful to be there for a few days to perform, meet with her colleagues, reconnect with an old Eastman friend (@ignacy_cello ) who is the new cellist on the Stetson faculty, and of course, catch up with Olivia and Andre! I also had a great experience presenting to one of her classes about collaborations, and it was exciting for me to learn more about some of their own plans for future collaborative projects with their peers.

Thrilled to share that my new album LONG THESE DAY

Thrilled to share that my new album LONG THESE DAYS dropped today and is available everywhere! 🎵🎧🎉 Special thanks to Tasos Peltekis, Olivia Yokers, and Norman Espinoza for such a wonderful collaboration, to Ron George for mixing/editing, Gil Kaupp for mastering, and to Lexicon Classics for releasing the album and everything that it entails.

This has been a dream/personal project of mine for a little over a year now and it’s been exciting for me to see all of this finally come to fruition. The art songs (poems by Christina Rossetti and Spanish sonnets by Pablo Neruda) are separated by instrumental piano/electric guitar interludes. Each track has a connection to the one before and after, starting with tracks 1 ‘Song of Flight’ and 2 ‘Interlude: Dawn’, and ending with tracks 13 ‘Echo’ and 14 ‘Postlude: Resurgence.’ It was also a great experience for me to learn the piano parts to play on all tracks and I can’t wait to perform this live when we have our album release concert in the near future.

This is the full video of my song Noche (Night) ✨featuring Norman Espinoza. 🎤 🎧 He asked me to write him four Spanish songs with text by Pablo Neruda. The Neruda sonnet is beautiful, dark and haunting and I really enjoyed working on the music. At the end of the song when Norman hits those super low notes, you’ll hear Tasos improvising a melody on the electric guitar, like a haunting lullaby in the distance while the sparkly piano part continues, representing stars in the sky. 🌟💫✨

In anticipation of the release of my new album next week, I’m excited to share the music video of my interlude “Nightscape” 😊. I’m playing piano 🎹 and Tasos Peltekis is improvising on electric guitar. 🎸

I love the night because I get to dream. This short instrumental interlude leads into track 11, a Spanish art song I wrote for bass singer Norman Espinoza titled “Noche” (Night), which is a setting of a sonnet under the category “Noche” from the book, 100 Love Sonnets of Pablo Neruda. I will share the full video of track 11 tomorrow!

Thrilled to share that my new single “Echo” dr

Thrilled to share that my new single “Echo” dropped and is available everywhere. This is track 13 on my new album, Long These Days, and is a setting of my favorite poem by Christina Rossetti, which I wrote for soprano, electric guitar, and piano. The overall album project ideas began with this song when I started revising the piece last summer, and it showcases this wonderful collaboration I had with Olivia Yokers and Tasos Peltekis. The track “Interlude: Eyelids Close” that was released July 5 leads into this song.

Shahab shot and edited the music video, and we came up with ideas for stock footage. When reading this text, I think about being able to dream to escape into another reality to experience connections that we might not be able to have in our waking lives.
